I'm a nervous traveler. I love it, but the tummy flutters before flying always have me breaking out the ginger ale.
So it's great to get to the other side of airport security and cramped economy class seats. Especially if the other side is Paris! Covered in graffiti!
I had forgotten from last visit how enthusiastically les jeunes Francais have assimilated this American urban tradition. Often uninspiredly (the F-word, really?) but sometimes inspiredly.
We took a long walk in the Marais today (after a brief nap), exploring La Place des Vosges, Rue Francs Bourgeois, Rue de Rivoli and peeked in to the fabulous gardens of the Musee de Carnevalet.
Had Perrier and cafe au lait, later dinner, then stopped for a last couple beverages before calling it a night.
The Parisiens are still at it. It's the rentree, that last month of summer light before the days get short and dark. Everyone is back from vacation, kids are back in school and the cultural calendar is full.
Some pix from the Marais, the name of the 11 arrondissment.
1) Art work at a Place des Vosges gallery
2) Graffiti in the Rue de Marche des Blancs Manteaux
3) Graffiti in the place du Marche Ste. Catherine.
4) Also, the Gendarmes go about on roller blades.
